Saints youngster Alex Jankewitz
SAINTS youngster Alex Jankewitz was unable to prevent Switzerland under-21s from slipping to a 3-1 defeat against France last night.
The midfielder, 18, came off the bench just past the hour mark in the European Championship qualifier with France already 2-0 up thanks to a brace from Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard.
Kastriot Imeri pulled one back for Switzerland, but the hosts, who were reduced to 10 men during the second half, sealed the win thanks to Randal Kolo's late strike.
Saints star Ibrahima Diallo was an unused substitute for France. Switzerland won all of their other nine group matches, but are forced to settle for second place in the group having now been leapfrogged by France.
