Saints fan Doug Cholerton has written to the Daily Echo calling on the club's three largest shareholders - Michael Wilde, Leon Crouch and Rupert Lowe - to put their differences to one side and unite for the long term good of the club.

Cholerton writes: This is an open letter to Michael Wilde, Leon Crouch and Rupert Lowe ...Gentlemen as the three largest shareholders in Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC, we fail to understand how you all can stand by and watch the disintegration of our club in which you all have significant monies invested. If one reads reports from within the club we are in a parlous position financially, and now we are being prepared for the next tranch of player sales in the January transfer window due to our financial plight.Whether by accident or design, the Execs who are running the club appear to be leaking bad news in drips to prepare the supporters and small shareholders for the exits of further players, to be replace no doubt by more sub-standard loan signings.Successive Boards of Directors have failed both the small investor and the passionate supporter.Firstly by Mr Lowe failing to invest after the cup final and subsequently in the choice of many managerial appointments.Add to this, the total disregard of the customer base, the lack of transparency and the impression that no blame could be attached to him during his stewardship. The much heralded ousting of Mr Lowe by the team led by Mr Wilde has failed to subsequently deliver on all counts, not just the lack of investment. We were promised more transparency, an improved Saints website, more dialogue with supporters and action to bring in investors.Add to that the promised injection by himself of £2 million to take the club forward.

Supporters feel used in the ousting of the previous chairman.

None of these promises has yet materialised.

Self interest to the average supporter appears to be rife amongst both the executive team and the major shareholders at the expense of both the long term interest of the club/ PLC and the supporters.

The reason that I write this open letter is to ask you just for once to put aside both self-interest and personal dislikes and unite together in the best long term benefit of our great club.It matters not who is the most to blame; the supporters hold you all personally accountable in some way or another for the debacle which is the current situation. It is not the intention to apportion who has been mostly at fault in the demise of our club (we all have different personal views on this).Between you all, you have a wealth of business acumen all with very successful reputations within commerce and industry. Why, therefore, have you been unable to forget past differences and jointly work together for the long-term stability of our club/PLC?At some point you will all be judged by your ability or disinterest in saving our team.We have been around for more years than you have. Our future is in grave doubt due to personal pride and differences between you all.Just for once, will you give the supporters of our club a personal assurance that you will put to one side any differences and only work for the future of our club.It should not be necessary to remind you all that we are fast approaching the season of goodwill to all.In those words lies the future of Saints. It is now time for all of you to unite at this wonderful time of the year and make a promise to all of us who support Saints, to work tirelessly and with haste before we are faced with administration and the loss of further players.Doug Cholerton, Middlewhich, Cheshire.
