RALPH Hasenhuttl insisted he was "very happy" to pick up a point against Arsenal, despite facing 10 men for the final 25 minutes.

Theo Walcott's goal was cancelled out by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Emirates Stadium before Gabriel was sent off for the hosts.

Both sides struck the crossbar in the closing minutes, but the spoils were shared with a 1-1 draw.

Asked if he felt it was two points dropped for his in-form side, Hasenhuttl said: "Who thinks it was two points dropped? I don’t think so.

"Yeah we have been in the lead, but in the end we don’t have to forget where we are coming from and where we are going to.

"Let’s keep on going. Every point is important for us. Unbeaten again, this is the most important thing and now we step up again."

He added: "I think the guys did a fantastic job tactically today, especially in the first half, good game management. The first goal was fantastic and a few other scenes against a strong side as well with a lot of quality, one against one quality.

"We are still 10 points above Arsenal. This explains everything, so I’m very happy."

Hasenhuttl also admitted it would have been a risky game to try and push too hard to grab a winning goal.

"At the moment we went one man up it was an equalised game," said the Saints boss.

"Then it is about how much risk you want to take to score the second one. I think what we tried was to play the game in their half and wait for the right moment to kill them.

"We had the chance with Reddy’s shot on the bar, that was the best opportunity in the end I think.

"But it’s always dangerous when you take too much risk at that moment because when you concede a counter-attack, they have quality. You could see the quality for their equaliser in one v one situations so you must always be careful.

"That’s the reason why we decided not to take all the risk."

Quizzed on if he felt Arsenal were vulnerable given their recent poor run, having lost four home league games in a row before Saints visited north London, Hasenhuttl added: "This is normal when you see their results in the past.

"They are not convinced so much about what they are doing at the moment, I think you could feel this.

"But it’s always dangerous such an opponent because you only need one good action and suddenly you are back. This is the danger after the equaliser, when you are suddenly have such belief you cannot lose such a game.

"It was good what we did today, let’s take a point and keep going."
