DEFENDER Jack Stephens revealed Saints keeper Alex McCarthy is back in training with the club having recovered from COVID-19.
The goalkeeper missed last week’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool, having been isolating after contracting the virus.
But Stephens, a close friend of McCarthy in the squad, revealed the England international was back in action following the isolation period.
Giving an update on McCarthy to the Daily Echo, Stephens said: “Yeah, Al’s fine.
“I think he had a few symptoms early on but for the vast majority of it he was all right, so that’s obviously good news.
“I was talking to him most days. I think he was just a little bit bored at home!
“He was itching to get back and thankfully, we’ve got him back in training now.”
McCarthy could now be involved for the St Mary’s side’s trip to Leicester on Saturday (8pm).
