RALPH Hasenhuttl says Saints will look to make a decision over Josh Sims "in the next couple of weeks".

The winger is now back at Staplewood after a fruitful loan spell at League One Doncaster Rovers in the first half of the campaign.

Reports this month have linked Sims with another move away with both Doncaster and QPR said to be interested.

Sims, 23, has made 27 appearances for the Saints first team, with the last of those coming in May 2019.

As well as time at Doncaster, Sims has also spent loan spells at Reading and New York Red Bulls.

Asked if Sims could return to be part of Saints' squad, given the club's current injury problems, Hasenhuttl said: “We were discussing about this, definitely, but because he has been so long out of training (with us), I don’t think it makes sense to bring him in quickly, because it takes a lot of time until he is on the level to help us.

"He is not in our bubble at the moment and not with us in the training sessions.

“I know that he is back and we will look about his future in the next couple of weeks."

Asked if he was considering bringing any players back who are currently on loan spells away from Saints, the boss added: “No, definitely not. If we had more long-term injuries, we have two with (Michael) Obafemi and Will Smallbone, but the rest could be back quickly, so it doesn’t make sense to bring anybody back.”
