FRASER Forster will continue as Saints' goalkeeper for FA Cup games this season for as long as the club stay in the competition, boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed.

The giant stopper, who has played second fiddle to Alex McCarthy during the majority of the Premier League campaign, has this week kept two clean sheets in the cup.

Forster denied both Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday and Arsenal on Saturday, adding to the clean sheet in his only other appearance this season - the home league win over champions Liverpool.

Saints head to Wolves in round five, looking to book a spot in the quarter-finals.

Asked if Forster will continue to oust McCarthy for cup fixtures this term, no matter how far Saints progress, Hasenhuttl said: "Yes. He deserves to be the cup goalkeeper I think.

"He really wants to go to the next round and he has another clean sheet. He does a fantastic job there and we have two good, strong goalkeepers. There is no reason why I shouldn’t trust him again."

He added: "All the goalkeepers are getting better and better and becoming really strong goalkeepers. Praise to my goalkeeper coach and the job he does."
