Nobody looks forward to Christmas more than darts fans.

It's not the possibility of finding a set of tungsten arrows under the tree that excites them but the endless hours of televised action on the oche that span the last weeks of year and the start of another.

History of the division between the British Darts Organisation and the Professional Darts Corporation is long and complicated.

But supporters of the sport have simplified it to - games shown on Sky and those on the BBC - and they get the the best of both worlds.

The PDC kick off proceedings on Sky on December 17 and play their final on New Year's Day. Included in the line-up is Hampshire's James Wade, Colin Monk and Andy Jenkins.

The BDO - televised by the BBC - start their world championship on January 5 and finish on January 13.

Unusually there are no Hampshire men in the competition but the county flag will be flown by Gosport's Steffi Smee.
