Coventry boss Iain Dowie will be giving new chairman Ray Ranson his shopping list when the pair meet for the first time this week.

The SISU Capital Consortium, which is headed by former Manchester City defender Ranson, completed its takeover of the Sky Blues on Friday.

But there was no such good news on the pitch and Coventry's up-and-down season continued when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Saints.

Dowie said: "I always have a shopping list ready just like any manager.

"There are one or two areas we would like to look at and if we want to take this club forward we have to do that.

"The new chairman wants to sit down with me next week and he has said he wants to invest from the Academy upwards and strengthen the first team.

"The players we bring in have to be the right character.

"The players we have have done well in adversity and we will not be discarding them.

"We have been out scouting regularly and in Europe as well.

"This is a very, very good club and has the potential to be top flight."
