RALPH Hasenhuttl is hopeful Stuart Armstrong will be ready to return in time to face Leeds United on Tuesday evening.
The Scotland international missed out on this afternoon's clash against Chelsea due to a muscle injury.
Moussa Djenepo came in to take his place, helping the side to a 1-1 draw at St Mary's.
Armstrong's absence was a blow, given his recent impressive form which has included a goal and assist in games against Wolves.
But Hasenhuttl provided an encouraging update on the 28-year-old's fitness.
Asked how bad the injury to Armstrong was, boss Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo: "No, nothing serious. For a few days he was out.
"He can be an option for Tuesday against Leeds."
Saints head to Elland Road in midweek, looking for a first Premier League win since early January.
