BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl said Saints would “have a look” at the fitness of Nathan Tella ahead of Wednesday’s clash at Manchester City (6pm).

The exciting youngster earned rave reviews for his performance against Sheffield United, on Saturday, where he completed 77 minutes before being substituted.

And Hasenhuttl said the club must “pay attention” to Tella’s workload, after he showed so much endeavour against the Blades.

Speaking about the 21-year-old, the Saints boss said: “We must have a look at how fit he is for Wednesday, because he invested a lot, and as a young player we have to pay attention to this.”

Quizzed on what the Stevenage-born youngster had to do to earn a regular start, the Saints boss replied: “Play like he played at the weekend, I think. It was exactly what we demanded from him.

“The stats were massive. I think in 70 minutes he was running more high-speed than others did in 90 minutes.

“This is what I expected from him and it’s what he gives us, and what he gives our game.”
