CHERRIES boss Jonathan Woodgate revealed striker Shane Long would be “touch and go” ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Championship league leaders Norwich (8pm).

The 34-year-old was left out of the Dorset club’s 2-1 win at Huddersfield on Tuesday with a groin problem.

He was set to undergo scans on the issue this week, with Woodgate revealing the Republic of Ireland international would face a late fitness test.

Asked for team news ahead of the clash at Carrow Road, Woodgate said: “Shane Long will be touch and go.

“We will have to see and do a fitness test on him and see how he is.

“Apart from that we’ve got Lewis Cook who is a long-term injury.”

Long has found his game time limited at Cherries since signing on loan from Saints back in February.

He has played just four minutes of the club’s past five Championship games.

His most recent appearance for Woodgate’s men was when he came off the bench against Middlesbrough on Good Friday.

The striker has scored two goals in nine appearances during his loan spell from the St Mary’s outfit.
