BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl saw Saints squander their advantage to lose 2-1 at Tottenham and admitted: “There’s not only one reason why we concede goals.”

The St Mary’s side took the lead on 30 minutes at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when Danny Ings’s glancing header flew in off the inside of the far post.

But Gareth Bale’s curling effort found the top corner before Heung-Min Son’s late spot-kick saw Spurs secure all three points.

Saints have now dropped 21 points from winning positions this season, more than any other Premier League team.

Asked about that stat post-match, the Austrian replied: “What do you want to hear? We can speak about tactics? We can speak about subs? We can speak about the way we defend when we are in the lead?

“If you change the game? If you should change our shape? If we should play something different? You can speak about everything but it’s not one part that is leading to this fact that we are conceding goals in this moment.

“Maybe the quality of the opponent – they risk a little bit more? You can speak about everything.

“We are trying to keep the tempo high. We are trying to keep them away from our goal.

“We had not a lot of chances in the second half, we lose balls easily because, I don’t know, maybe we are tired or maybe we are simply not good enough in that moment to be cool.

“We have been better at this definitely in the past and this is definitely a step back in my opinion.

“The subs did not really help us in this moment. Last game it was the same but it’s always a combination of everything to be honest.

“There’s not only one reason why we concede goals. The fact is we concede. The fact is we lose points and this is the issue.

“It’s not too easy to change at the moment it seems but we have to.”
