SAINTS legend Matt Le Tissier has been shortlisted for a spot in the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Le Tissier, who netted in excess of 200 goals across more than 500 games for Saints' first team, a spell which spanned over three separate decades, is part of a group of players nominated to join the newly formed group.

Former Saints striker Alan Shearer and Arsenal great Thierry Henry were the two initial inductees earlier this week.

But now Le Tissier, along with 22 other top-flight heroes, have been nominated to join the elite list, with six more spots up for grabs.

Also on the shortlist are: Tony Adams, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell, Eric Cantona, Andy Cole, Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba, Les Ferdinand, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Michael Owen, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes, John Terry, Robin van Persie, Nemanja Vidic, Patrick Vieira and Ian Wright.

Fans can vote for their favourite via the Premier League website - premierleague.com/hall-of-fame/nominees - with voting open until Sunday, May 9 (6pm).

Upon receiving the nomination, Le Tissier took to Twitter, posting: "An honour indeed to be amongst these great players. And pretty sure I’m the only one on the list that won zero major trophies and didn’t play for one of the European Super League clubs. Must have done something right."
