SAINTS midfielder Jake Hesketh has announced his time at St Mary’s has come to an end.

The 25-year-old had been with the club since he was eight years old, progressing through the academy ranks in Hampshire.

Hesketh signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the club in December 2016, with that contract set to expire in the summer.

And the Stockport-born ace has taken to social media to announce his departure.

A post on his official Instagram feed said: “After 17 years and a childhood dream achieved, time to leave @southamptonfc.

“Grateful for the memories, the opportunities and meeting some unbelievable people and mates for life. Looking forward to the future. Been a pleasure.”

Hesketh made four senior appearances for Saints, featuring in two Premier League games as well as in the League Cup and the Europa League.

He has had loan spells at the likes of Burton Albion, Mk Dons, Lincoln and Crawley.
