JOSH Sims is one of 11 players who have been released by Saints after the club announced it’s 2021 retained list.

Ryan Bertrand was also included among the names listed by the club, after confirming he would not be signing a new contract at St Mary’s last month.

Another name to be released includes Jake Hesketh, who previously announced via social media he would be leaving his boyhood side.

Sims provided an assist on his debut for Saints in a 1-0 victory over Everton under Claude Puel in 2016. He would go on to make 27 first team appearances for the St Mary’s side.

After announcing who would be leaving the club, a statement on Saints’ website read: “Southampton Football Club would like to thank each and every one of the players for their hard work, dedication and commitment during their time at the club, and we wish them all the very best for the future.”
