FORMER Saints midfielder Jake Hesketh has reportedly been informed he will not be offered a contract at Portsmouth.

The 25-year-old had been training with Danny Cowley’s side at St George’s Park and started two summer friendlies as a trialist.

But the Portsmouth News have reported Hesketh will not be offered a contract with Pompey.

Stockport-born Hesketh is a free agent after being released by Saints at the end of last season.

He had been with the St Mary’s club since he was eight years old, progressing through the academy ranks in Hampshire.

Hesketh made four senior appearances for Saints, featuring in two Premier League games as well as in the League Cup and the Europa League.

He also had loan spells at the likes of Burton Albion, MK Dons, Lincoln and Crawley.
