George Burley believes he may only get one of his three loan signings on a more permanent basis this week.

Phil Ifil returned to Tottenham at the end of last month after his loan expired, Alan Bennett is due to go back to Reading after Saturday's game with Scunthorpe while Andrew Davies' deal from Middlesbrough is also up.Both Bennett and Davies were unavailable for the 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Leicester so they weren't Cup tied and their futures remain up in the air.It looks likely that both Ifil and Bennett will now have to remain with their clubs, Spurs having changed manager since Ifil was initially loaned out and Steve Coppell looking for cover for Ibrahima Sonko who is off to the African Cup of Nations.Saints remain confident of tying up the £1m signing of Davies, the deal which should be completed this week. However, missing out on two of the three comes as a real blow for Burley. He said: "We've got three players who we'd like to keep but I don't think that's going to be possible but hopefully we can do one."We'll have to see what happens. Andrew Davies and Alan Bennett and Phil Ifil we're hoping to do maybe one of them so we'll look at it from there." Full story: see today's Daily Echo
