Andrew Surman admits he is falling short of his goals target for the season - but is at least hoping his opener against Leicester has repaid a few people's faith in him.

The Saints midfielder opened the scoring with a terrific turn and half volley against Leicester and sent his side on their way to a 2-0 FA Cup third round win against the Foxes at the weekend.Surman started the season hoping to net around 15 goals during the campaign but now over halfway through has only four to his name.He is hoping this goal will spark a run and is relieved to have paid back a few punters who keep backing him with the bookies to get a goal.He said: "I'm due one. I owe a few people money because they keep putting bets on me to score and I never do so it was nice to get that one."I think I get into positions but maybe have a few too many touches around the box. "I set my target as being as many goals as I could get, maybe around 15, but I've got four so far so I have a long way to go."I need to be a bit more clinical as an attacking midfielder."Full story: see today's Daily Echo
