SAINTS are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of £8million for Mario Lemina.
The Athletic claim the St Mary’s hierarchy would be prepared to do a deal with a club if that fee is met inclusive of add-ons, with Watford and Newcastle interested.
The Daily Mail however claimed Newcastle have been reviving £4million talks with Saints over the Gabon international.
Magpies owner Mike Ashley was reportedly not keen on paying a fee for a player over the age of 27, with Lemina turning 28 in September – but club staff are said to have talked him round.
Lemina has been training with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men during pre-season, despite being loaned out to Fulham last campaign.
The midfielder signed a five-year deal at St Mary’s when he arrived from Juventus for £18.1million in 2017.
He has played 52 times for Saints in all competitions but has also spent time on loan at Galatasaray as well as the Cottagers.
Ligue 1 outfit Nice have also been linked with the Saints midfielder.
