SPIN star Amanda-Jade Wellington stole the show with four wickets for Southern Brave, before admitting she was "blown away" by the crowd numbers at Lord's.

Fans flocked to the London venue to see the double header between the Brave and the Spirit.

And while most home fans were left disappointed as both Brave's men and women claimed victory, Aussie Wellington was thrilled by the support on show for the sport.

“To play at Lord’s was amazing," she said.

"I was blown away with the amount of people here supporting women’s cricket."

Brave made light work of Spirit, skittling them for just 93 before going on to claim a comfortable seven-wicket win.

Wellington led the charge with the ball with figures of four for 14, before Danni Wyatt (21), Sophia Dunkley (22) and Stafanie Taylor (29no) and Maia Bouchier (15no) sealed the win which sends unbeaten Brave top of the table.

“On a wicket like that, I really had to change up my pace, length and variation," said Wellington.

"As a spinner, I know batters are going to come after me and if I see them doing that I will bring back my length a little bit – being one step ahead is the key.

“Chases like that can be really hard – sometimes with a low total you get frustrated, but Stafanie Taylor and Maia Bouchier played outstanding cricket. I think we did a brilliant job to chase that down with a few balls to spare.

“We still haven’t put on a really 100 per cent performance, so it’ll be exciting to see that when it comes.”
