WITH news breaking that Saints have reportedly had a bid accepted for Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong, fans have breathed a huge sigh of relief.

The 24-year-old Newcastle-born forward scored 28 goals in 40 Championship fixtures last season, and hes been integral to the Rovers attack.

He didn't feature in their 2021-22 opening day match though, amid links of the move away - a move that now looks to be to the south-coast and St Mary's.

It's potentially a perfect birthday gift for manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, who celebrates turning 54 today.

Armstrong would be the direct replacement for exiled forward Danny Ings, who moved to league rivals Aston Villa - but nothing is confirmed just yet.

Here are some of fans' top reactions to the development.
