HONEST Lyanco described as a “difficult debut” his first appearance for Saints but added: “I will always give my life for this team.”

The Brazilian centre-half endured a tough 74-minute introduction to English football at Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Former Torino man Lyanco was booked in the first half after a flashpoint between himself and Blades striker Oli McBurnie.

He then gave away possession in a dangerous area on 66 minutes, allowing McBurnie to slam home an equaliser in the 2-2 Carabao Cup third round tie.

Saints went on to triumph 4-2 on penalties, after Lyanco was replaced by Jan Bednarek in south Yorkshire.

Posting on social media, the defender said: “A very difficult debut, hard game.

“Keep working… thanks to all the fans, it was wonderful to wear this shirt! I will always give my life for this team. We are classified!!!”

Lyanco, 24, joined Saints from Serie A outfit Torino for £6.4million last month.
