George Burley admitted Scunthorpe probably deserved a point after his side defeated the Iron 1-0 at St Mary's.

In a game of many chances Grzegorz Rasiak's first half strike proved to be the difference between the teams but in truth it was a patchy Saints display.

Burley said: "It was a game where you've got to give Scunthorpe credit because I thought they deserved something from the game.

"We didn't look right as a unit, especially in midfield, and we've got to work on that but we kept a clean sheet and got the three points.

"There were chances - we almost conceded a goal from our kick-off and our players looked a little bit edgy.

"Scunthorpe did very well, passed it, put a lot of balls in our box and we had to defend stoutly which we did.

"Kelvin Davis made three or four excellent saves and I'm pleased we got the three points."
