FORMER Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara names Saints in lengthy rant about cutting the size of the Premier League, in order to get rid of “embarrassments” and “irrelevant games.”

O’Hara played 93 times in the English top flight before consistent injury concerns meant he was deemed not good enough himself and dropped gradually down the leagues, eventually ending up in the Isthmian Premier Division by his early 30s.

Now, four teams are yet to win a game in the Premier League this season, including Saints, and O’Hara has highlighted them and targeted Norwich specifically as an embarrassment to the division.

His solution would be to reduce the size of the league to 18 teams to stop big teams “getting the hump,” with smaller sides that are “killing" the division.

He launched into the rant while speaking on talkSPORT and said: “There’s 20 teams in the Premier League and it’s almost getting ridiculous with Norwich.

“They’re yet to win a game, and there are other teams involved in this, Southampton, Burnley, Newcastle and Norwich yet to win a league match this season.

“It raises the question for me, Norwich who have come into the league again are the whipping boys, I said it at the start of the season and got a load of stick but again they are showing they’re an embarrassment.

“It raises the question of all this talk about players being fatigued, too many games, the big teams looking at doing the Super League which I’m against.

“But they’re starting to get the hump with irrelevant football matches. I think you can drop it to 18 teams. Get rid of the teams that are no good, get rid of the dross.

“It’s killing the Premier League because it’s gone to such heights now, these games like Norwich coming up and getting beaten, killing the Premier League, it’s pointless.”

O’Hara represented England under-21s on seven occasions but never received a call-up to the senior squad.
