EASTLEIGH manager Ben Strevens was feeling the relief after ‘body-blow' equaliser was cancelled out by Ben House, quipping: “They certainly try and age me, I think I’m going greyer by the day.”
It looked as though the Spitfires would go a third game without victory after a draw against Boreham Wood and loss to Southend United, when Joshua Umerah equalised for Wealdstone with minutes to go.
But they walked away from Grosvenor Vale with a three points that lifts them to 13th in the National League table, and seven points from the top seven with a game in hand.
Speaking after the game, Strevens said: “The goal they got so close to the end was a body-blow for me and for the boys on the pitch, but they probably reacted to it better than me.
“I was feeling sorry for myself for a few minutes there, but the boys didn’t, they didn’t let their heads drop and got back on the front foot – Housey getting the goal was an amazing feeling for the group.
“I think it was deserved, I have to be honest. They certainly try and age me, I think I’m going greyer by the day. Big three points.”
