SAINTS have handed a trial to former West Ham United prodigy Kai Corbett, 19, during their Saints B game against Wolves on Monday.

The forward rejected a contract offer and departed his London side this summer in the hope of securing a move with first-team football, or one with a visible pathway at the least.

The Daily Echo were the first to report that the trialist named in David Horseman’s B team could indeed be Kai, who is still on the lookout for a new club after his summer exit.

Corbett featured regularly for Hammers’ under-18 and under-23 side, in Premier League 2, last season and is a hotly-rated youngster who has attracted attention from clubs up and down the country.

He is thought to have had a trial at fellow Premier League side Wolves over the summer, but didn’t sign a contract with the Midlands club.

Manchester United were even interested in the youngster back in 2020, but a move never materialised as the club deemed him too expensive to sign.

He had a trial with the Red Devils and scored for their under-18 team back in February, before returning to West Ham.

Around the same time, aged 17, Corbett had trialled for Bristol City’s under-23 team – a young side that have produced a vast number of first-team players for the South West club in the last few seasons.
