SAINTS Women continue their stunning season with progression in the FA Women's National League Cup, following a 1-0 victory at league-promotion rivals Ipswich Town.

Ipswich are the only other team to have won every single game in the National League Southern Premier, and top the division by nine points having played three more fixtures.

And Lucia Kendall’s sweet strike with just 10 minutes left to play was enough to settle a hard-fought tie in Saints’ favour.

A 600 strong crowd helped the home side surge but goalkeepeing heroics from Kayla Rendell kept them at bay.

Shannon Sievwright and Ella Pusey has brief sights at goal in a quiet first-half, but it wasn’t until the 65th minute when substitute Zoe Barratt began to provide a spark for the home.

Fellow sub Kendall had the same effect for Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side, before she went on a superb solo run, dancing between two or three Ipswich defenders on her way into the area before curling Saints ahead.

Rendell was forced to make two top-stops to keep that slender advantage in the final five minutes, and secure progression to the next round ahead of the two sides meeting again in league action in a fortnight.
