WEST Brom are reportedly 'virtually resigned' to letting England international goalkeeper Sam Johnstone leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old shot-stopper’s contract expires following the conclusion of this campaign and has been regularly linked with a move back to the Premier League, following Albion’s relegation.
David Moyes’ West Ham have also been linked with a pursuit for the six-foot four-inch keeper, who has maintained his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squads despite participation in the Championship.
Johnstone has kept seven clean sheets in his 16 league games so far this season, as West Brom sit in third place and are eight behinds league leaders Bournemouth.

But the Daily Mail report has suggested that West Brom are expecting Johnstone to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires ahead of next season.
The report goes on to detail that a January move for him would be unlikely due to the club’s pursuit of Premier League promotion.
The Baggies could look to extend his deal, but the goalkeeper will be able to earn much more elsewhere next season.
Former Manchester United man Johnstone played 37 games for West Brom during their 2020-21 Premier League relegation season, keeping six clean sheets and conceding 74 goals.
