RALPH Hasenhuttl reserved special praise for set piece coach Dave Watson after Saints picked up a 2-2 draw with Leicester.

Saints broke the deadlock in just the third minute when a short corner routine led to Jan Bednarek turning home from close range.

And it was another corner which carved the Foxes open later in the half, Nathan Redmond crossing for Che Adams to head home.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference earlier this week, Hasenhuttl was quizzed on Saints' poor return from set pieces this season, compared to last.

He said: "I don't have the feeling we are not dangerous in set pieces, to be honest.

"We do nothing different to last season. We are training on them for the same percentage of time as last year.

"We have the same guy who kicks it, the same amount of players running in there. We had a few very close situations with Che's header against Villa and (Armando) Broja against West Ham.

"So we had a few moments when we nearly scored, there were a few inches that were missing."

And those inches were rectified on Wednesday evening with Watson, previously goalkeeper coach at Saints, given the credit.

"Congrats to Dave, he tried something new with playing shorter," explained Hasenhuttl.

"And also the free-kicks were working so it is always good when you have a set piece coach who has some new ideas.

"We must say that we had a good few days working with the team.

"They did everything we asked them to do and finally this is why we deserved the point."

Saints will look to end their three-game winless run when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to St Mary's on Saturday (3pm).
