FORMER Saints boss Nigel Adkins described as a “very proud moment” becoming the latest recipient of the club’s Forever Saint award.
Adkins guided the St Mary’s side from League One to the Premier League during his time at the helm by achieving back-to-back promotions in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns.
Birkenhead-born Adkins managed 124 games in total for Saints, winning on 67 occasions.
He collected his award during Saints’ home game against Leicester City on Wednesday.
A tweet from the 56-year-old read: “A very proud moment to collect the Forever Saint Award and share some happy memories of our journey together with the @SouthamptonFC fans.”
Adkins’s latest managerial role was at Charlton Athletic. He parted company with the Addicks in October, after just seven months in charge.
Franny Benali, Glenn Cockerill, John Corbett, Kelvin Davis, Steve Mills and Leon Crouch have also been honoured by the club this season.
