NATHAN Tella insists Saints are "not looking too much" at their increasingly precarious league position, despite a run of just two points from their past five matches.

Ahead of Tuesday night's Premier League fixtures, Ralph Hasenhuttl's men sat 16th in the table, just five points clear of the relegation zone, having played a game more than 18th-placed Burnley.

That comes after defeats at Norwich, Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as home draws with Leicester and Brighton.

Saints have the chance to get back on track with a trip to Crystal Palace tomorrow (7.30pm), before welcoming Brentford to St Mary's on Saturday.

Asked if this has become a massive week for the club, Tella told the Daily Echo: "All weeks are massive.

"We don’t want to change our approach for every game. But we know what we’ve got to go out and do and react on Wednesday."

Quizzed on if there was a worry about being dragged towards the bottom three, the talented forward added: "We’re not looking too much into that.

"Of course we know what happens when we don’t pick up results, but then as a team we’ve got to focus on what we can do and try and change our results."

Saints could be without a host of players for tomorrow's trip to the capital.

Alex McCarthy, Fraser Forster, Stuart Armstrong and Che Adams are all definitely ruled out, while Adam Armstrong and Armando Broja are doubts after limping off against Arsenal.

"We obviously don’t know the extent of the injuries at the moment, but we’ve got enough players in the team that can come in and do a job," insisted Tella.

"That’s what the manager wants, to have strength in depth. Now we’ve got enough players, we’ll see that."
