BEN Strevens’ Eastleigh laboured to a 0-0 draw with playoff chasing Solihull Moors but left Silverlake Stadium disappointed.

Danny Whitehall had a golden opportunity to open in the first-half but couldn’t get a touch on a fizzing ball across the face of goal, while Ryan Hill had a late effort cleared off the line.

Most of the Spitfires’ chances came through strong deliveries into the area, often courtesy of set-piece specialist Tom Whelan and right-back Josh Hare’s feet.

Christian Maghoma should have scored from the former’s late delivery, but his header from merely yards away from Ryan Boot’s goal was straight down into the surface and behind to safety.

Vince Harper was electric at the left of defence but couldn’t find the final ball as he dazzled his way through the opposition time and time again.

A Solihull breakthrough only looked likely on one occasion - Joe Sbarra’s strike from the edge of the area with 10 to play was destined to nestle in the net, but for a crucial last-ditch intervention.

That came before substitute Hill’s effort was cleared off the line, and the former Stoke man tried his luck again but a visions curler from the edge of the area - as the sides approached additional time - was really well saved.

So despite an increasingly strong finish to the game from the home side, the points were shared in the postponed National League match that was due to take place at the end of November.

The initial tie was called off on the day after adverse weather conditions caused a power outage at the ground.

The result leaves Eastleigh 13th in the division on 25 points from 18 matches, with a game in hand on of teams above but now 10 points from the top seven.
