BRENTFORD will now visit St Mary's on Tuesday, January 11 after the Premier League announced the rearranged date.
Saints were due to host Brentford prior to Christmas, with the game originally slated for Saturday, December 18.
The game was one of the first matches called off during the current mass culling of fixtures, with Saints' game against Newcastle this weekend also being scrapped. At the time, Brentford boss Thomas Frank called for the entire round of fixtures to be cancelled - an appeal that fell on deaf ears.
Just like the Newcastle fixture, Saints were ready to play - with COVID cases in the Brentford camp seeing the match postponed.
Since the game was postponed, Brentford have returned to action and currently have no reported cases amongst their playing squad.
The two sides last met at St Mary's in 2020 - with the Bees knocking out Saints of the EFL Cup 2-0, with goals courtesy of current Brentford midfielders Christian Norgaard and Josh Dasilva.
It will be the first top-flight meeting between the two sides, and the first league meeting since 2011 - when both sides were in League One.
Despite it being a free match-week, the game has not been selected for broadcast.
However, Saints' game at home to Norwich has - with the fixture brought forward by a day in order to be shown live on Sky.
It means that the fixture will now take place on Friday, February 25, and will be an 8pm kick-off. Saints will now have three out of four games in February shown live, with the away fixtures to Tottenham and Manchester United also selected for coverage.
