SAINTS are interested in young Manchester City duo Liam Delap and James McAtee, according to Sky Sports.

The January transfer window opened on Saturday, just before the takeover of the club was confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

Sport Republic, backed by Serbian billionaire Dragan Solak, are now in control of Saints, purchasing the 80 per cent share previously held by Gao Jisheng.

And according to Sky, Saints have an interest in the Man City pair.

Salford-born McAtee, 19, is an attacking midfielder who came up through the City academy and has played twice for the first team this season.

He made his debut for Pep Guardiola's side when he came off the bench in a 6-1 FA Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers in September.

England under-20 international McAtee was then rewarded with a Premier League bow, introduced during the closing stages of November's 3-0 victory against Everton at Etihad Stadium.

Despite being younger than McAtee, striker Delap has slightly more senior experience than his City colleague.

The 18-year-old has made three senior City appearances, scoring once.

Delap netted on debut in a 2-1 Carabao Cup win over AFC Bournemouth last season.

He also featured in both the Premier League and FA Cup.

The Winchester-born frontman, son of former Saints midfielder Rory Delap, was due to head out on loan at the start of this campaign, only to suffer an injury which scuppered a potential move away.
