SAINTS winger Moi Elyounoussi believes his side’s clash with Brentford will be one for the neutral, revealing that he is expecting an "intense game".

It will be the two teams' first meeting since Brentford knocked Saints out of the League Cup in 2020. Elyounoussi did not feature in that tie, as he was on loan at Celtic.

However, the Norwegian international has clearly done some research on the newly promoted side, with the 27-year-old offering his insight on the Bees.

He told the Daily Echo: “I expect an intense game. It is two teams that like to press, play on the front foot, like to play forward.

“It could be an interesting game, a game that the neutral can enjoy.

“From our point of view, we try and go for another win.”

The pressing game of Saints may be hampered by the fact that Hasenhuttl’s beleaguered charges had to play an extra 30 minutes on Saturday, but Elyounoussi is confident there is enough depth at the club.

He also shared his belief that the scrappy win over Swansea would boost the side’s confidence.

“I think Brentford will be pleased we had extra time, I can imagine,” Elyounoussi continued.

“But, it is what it is. We had to fight to get into the next round, we have to do everything we can to recover and prepare for Tuesday.

“You can imagine – it’s going to give us confidence going into the next one.

“We are in a good shape at the moment, good momentum, and we want to build on that.

“We have a big squad, we have big depth, I hope it doesn’t affect us too much.”
