KAYNE Ramsay is set to spend the rest of the season on loan at Scottish Premier League side Ross County after Saints recalled him from Crewe Alexandra – as revealed by a disappointed David Artell.

The 21-year-old right-back made 19 competitive appearances including 15 in League One so far this campaign and was thought to be impressing those above him, including manager Artell.

However, it looks like he will now be sent north of the border to join fellow Saints loanee Jake Vokins until the end of the 2021-22 season.

“We planned for Kayne to play today,” Artell said, speaking after Crewe’s 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic.

“I was at Bolton v Wycombe last (Tuesday) night, and I got a call at 10, or half 10 as I’m leaving the ground to say they were recalling him and he’s going to Ross County.

“I haven’t heard from Kayne since. It is what it is.”

Saints also recently moved striker Dan Nlundulu, who was on loan at Lincoln City, to fellow League One side Cheltenham Town.

London-born Ramsay has already made his senior debut for Saints including two appearances in the Premier League – the last being the 9-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

The youngster regularly featured on Ralph Hasenhuttl’s bench for Premier League matches last campaign, while the club battled with an injury crisis.

Ramsay made his way through the youth ranks at Saints after a stellar spell in the under-18s, before becoming a B team regular.

Both former club and new loan destination Crewe and Ross County are fighting relegation battles of their own in the respective leagues.
