SAINTS boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is clearly tired of the fiasco surrounding postponements in the Premier League, with the Austrian remaining tight-lipped when asked about further games being called off.

Hasenhuttl has previously made his opinion very clear on the matter, calling for sides that add to their squad in January to be prevented from playing new signings in rearranged fixtures.

The 54-year-old stated earlier this month that: "The pandemic isn't a decisive factor at the moment. This situation cannot go on like this."

However, the situation is still producing even more confusing postponements – Arsenal managed to have the North London Derby called off with reportedly only one COVID case at the time of their request to the Premier League.

What has infuriated other clubs is that fact that Arsenal shipped two first-teamers out on loan prior to calling for the game to be postponed, effectively meaning the Gunners have contributed to their lacking of available players.

Despite being vocal about games being called off when the Premier League introduced the 13-player rule at the start of December, Hasenhuttl refused to be drawn back into the same rhetoric.

He told press: “We have spoken enough about it.

“Today, it is not on me to discuss about behaviours from other clubs.

“We have enough impact now in the moment for the Premier League. It is not good for the league. Everybody knows this.

“We will play every game as long as if possible, we do it.”

The inconsistency in games being called off was highlighted by Wolves’ squad for the game, with the Midlands outfit fielding a debutant whilst naming two goalkeepers on the bench. It appears that Wolves only had 12 senior outfield players available, but rather than appeal for the game to be called off, Wolves instead utilised youth players on the bench in order to make up the numbers.

Discussing the possibility of getting the game postponed, Wolves boss Bruno Lage said: “The most important thing is to complain about nothing and find solutions.

“In two or three weeks we are playing more games with the FA Cup. If you have more games then it’s harder to play.

“If you have players you need to continue to play. We have a lot of kids from the academy to play.

“I want to play and we are in a good moment. I don’t think about that (postponing). I put the kids in training a couple of times with us.

“We needed to prepare for the game in the best way. I prepared a lot of things this week. It was a hard week and I’m feeling very tired.”
