MANAGER Ralph Hasenhuttl’s claims that Armando Broja’s family want him to stay at Saints could play an important role in the future of the star.

The Austrian revealed this month that Sport Republic and Saints will try to capture the 20-year-old on a deal beyond his current season-long loan.

He even claimed that the Chelsea youngster’s family want him to stay at St Mary’s and are very happy with what the club have done for Broja.

This could play a huge part in the decision-making for the teen, as he has in the past revealed that his mum and dad were the two people he looks up to more than anyone.

“I looked up to both my mum and dad because if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Broja told Chelsea’s club website, in a 2019 interview.

“Every day they’ve supported me and been by my side.

“My dad worked very hard for the family and my mum used to drive me everywhere because they knew how much football meant to me.”

He continued: “Whenever I felt down or like I couldn’t do it anymore, they would always be there to pick me up and boost me.”

Broja is currently set to return to Chelsea at the end of the 2021-22 campaign, following the conclusion his loan deal.

However, after everything Broja has described his parents doing is he going to be more keen to make a decision based on his family’s guidance?

Hasenhuttl has teased Saints fans with the potential of a longer deal, and tried to explain why he believes his family are happy with the Slough-born product in Southampton.

“You would have to ask them,” he admitted, before continuing. “I think everything we promised them before he came here has come to reality.

“This is always a good argument for you as a club.

“Very often you get told a lot of things and then you don’t get anything from this.”

Hasenhuttl added: “This is not only for Broja, but also Tino Livramento and the other young lads coming to us.

“We tried to offer what we have promised and this is an honest way of handling this that helps you to come here and find your role in this club quicker.”
