SAINTS have sent another promising youngster out on loan – with centre-half Dynel Simeu lent to League Two Carlisle United.

A summer signing from Chelsea, Simeu has been on the fringes of Saints’ first-team squad this season.

The Cameroonian born defender had been named on the bench for three Premier League fixtures in recent weeks, whilst also being included in the matchday squad for the FA Cup trip to Swansea.

Simeu had a first taste of senior football in the Football League Trophy with Saints’ B team, playing twice against Leyton Orient and Charlton.

Carlisle sit in a precarious position in England’s fourth tier, with the side 20th place and only eight points off the relegation zone.

The 19-year-old, who grew up in Southampton, will be with the Cumbrians until the end of the season, where he will play with former Saints youngster Brennan Dickenson.

Discussing new signings, manager Keith Millen had previously told local paper the News & Star: “If we can bring one or two in, we need to.

“[But] I don’t want too big a squad. You want that competition, but you can end up with too many players not being involved and I don’t want that.”
