SAINTS B name two trialists in their team to take on AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League Cup (12PM kick-off).

The names of the trialists are unknown, but they are likely to be midfielders or defenders given that two attackers start for Dave Horseman in Luke Pearce and Dom Ballard.

Horseman names a young side for the clash with the Cherries outfit, which is the first of the final two group matches in the competition.

After failing to win any of their first four games of the tournament, Saints are six points behind second-placed Arsenal already – and the Gunners have one more to play, versus group leaders West Brom.

The identities of the trialists could become clearer as the match gets under way. Horseman will now be without Dynel Simeu for the rest of the season following his loan move to Carlisle United.

They are also a man light after Caleb Watts’ loan deal with Crawley Town and subsequent serious injury which sidelines him for three months.

Saints B have won each of their last two matches in Premier League 2 last week, though, with an unlikely win against league leaders Fulham and a fortunate 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at St Mary’s.
