Saints reveal that they have teamed up with partners Sportsbet.io, who have an office in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, to provide the free scarves to supporters. They will be on supporters’ seats ahead of kick-off.
Saints’ chief commercial officer, David Thomas, told the club website: “As a club, we felt it was important to recognise the shocking events of the past few weeks and use our platform to show our support for the people of Ukraine.
“We are proud to stand alongside our supporters and partners to promote a message of peace in these difficult times.”
Joe McCallum, director of Sportsbet.io, added: “In these difficult times it is important we all stick together and support each other. This is aligned with the shared values aspect of our partnership with Southampton.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ukraine and the courageous people showing breathtaking bravery in the face of adversity.”
Saints have also thanked Aston Villa, for their support in allowing the scarves to be distributed to fans ahead of the game.
