JASON Dodd admitted Saints owed a lot to fortune in their 2-0 FA Cup fourth round win over Bury.
After struggling against the League Two side in their first game since George Burley left to take the Scotland job, two lucky goals in the second half saw Saints through.
It was a first game in charge for caretaker bosses Dodd and John Gorman but in the end they secured a place in Monday's fifth round draw.
Dodd said: "I knew Bury would come and be very competitive and difficult to break down and they were.
"The longer the game went on we got it down and showed what we can do.
"We had a good chat at half time and got a bit of luck and sometimes you do need that and we got it with the penalty as well."
