HAMPSHIRE captain James Vince says he's "delighted" after has signing a new three-year contract extension, extending his stay at the Ageas Bowl until the end of 2025.

The 31-year-old, who has been with Hampshire since his academy days, has committed his future to the club by signing a three-year extension.

Having progressed through the youth setup, Vince made his first-team debut in May 2009 before becoming a regular fixture in the side a year later.

He has now racked up 17,666 runs in 405 appearances across all formats and assumed the role of club captain in 2015.

After signing his new deal, Vince said: “I’m delighted to have extended my contract for a further three years.

“I’ve been with Hampshire since 2006 and am proud to call The Ageas Bowl my home ground. I’ve enjoyed some fantastic experiences with the club and we head into the 2022 season with an exciting group of players and added motivation after coming so close in 2021’s County Championship.

“We’re looking forward to the start of the new season, one which will hopefully mark the beginning of a successful period for the club.”

Vince was crucial at the top of the order in Hampshire’s T20 successes of 2010 and 2012, and was an integral part of the County Championship Division Two title-winning side in 2014 before leading Hampshire to a Royal London One-Day Cup triumph in 2018.

During his time with the Club the right-hander has also featured on the international stage, making 50 appearances for England across all formats. He was a part of the 15-man squad who won the ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Giles White, Hampshire director of cricket, added: “James is not only a fantastic player in every format but also an excellent captain, so we are of course, delighted that he has committed for the long term.

“He’s an integral part of the club and it’s great to have him leading the team in what promises to be an exciting period for the club.”
