STOCKPORT County spoiled Eastleigh’s Non-League Day with a 2-0 win at the Silverlake Stadium.

It moved them 11 points clear at the top of the National League with a 10th successive victory.

Myles Hippolyte and Liam Hogan scored second-half goals after Lee Bradbury’s side had produced a better start.

Former Football League striker Paddy Madden saw two quickfire efforts saved by Joe McDonnell as Stockport made a bright start.

But it was the Spitfires should have gone ahead when Danny Whitehall chested down for Dan Smith, only for the young forward to fire the clear chance wide.

Opportunities were at a premium for the remainder of the first half, but the Hatters went in front five minutes after the break when Hippolyte volleyed in his first league goal for the club.

A stunning strike from Antoni Sarcevic crashed back off the crossbar as Stockport looked to add a quick second, while at the other end Danny Whitehall bundled an effort wide.

Madden fired wide, Scott Quigley headed over and then found the side-netting with another effort.

But Stockport did make the game safe with six minutes left when Hogan thumped in a header from a Sarcevic corner.

The result means the Spitfires have lost four matches in a row and are 19th in the table, 13 points ahead of King’s Lynn Town in the relegation zone.
