AFC Totton are through to the Southampton FA Senior Cup final after overcoming Winchester City 2-1, writes Doug Webber.

Goals from Hisham Kasimu and Shaq Gwengwe carried the Stags to the St Mary’s finale.

In a cagey first period, Gwengwe spurned a brace of gilt-edged chances at the neutral venue of Sholing’s Mackoy Stadium.

After the teams went in goalless at half-time, the Citizens started the brightest.

However, it was the Stags who took the lead with Kasimu blasting home from the spot after Gwengwe was felled.

With 10 minutes remaining, Totton doubled their lead as Gwengwe tucked away neatly after immaculate interplay.

There was to be late drama with Winchester’s Olly Balmer converting a penalty in added time, but the Stags held on to a 2-1 victory.

A date for the final is yet to be confirmed, but Stags do know their opponents.

Jimmy Ball will look to lift silverware early into his tenure when Totton face Folland Sports at the home of Saints.

Folland beat AFC Fawley 2-0 in their semi-final this week, thanks to two goals in the final five minutes.
