AFC Totton were unable to collect the final play-off berth in Southern League Division One South despite a convincing 3-1 win over Slimbridge, writes Doug Webber.

Goals from Brett Williams, Jordan Ragguette and Ethan Taylor secured victory for the Stags at Thornhill Park.

But Bristol Manor Farm managed to grab fifth spot in the division, with goals from Kye Simpson and Owen Howe earning them a 2-2 draw with Winchester City.

Totton’s final day victory saw them finish sixth in the league table, with 68 points from 36 league games.

After a tentative opening at Slimbridge, Williams settled the away side’s nerves, tucking away after unselfish play from Taylor.

Shortly after, Ragguette added a second with a venomous drive into the bottom right corner.

However, when Ben Hands curled over keeper Amadeusz Skrzyniarz directly from a corner, the apprehension returned.

In the second half, impeccable interplay from Totton gave Taylor a chance to round the Slimbridge keeper and slot home to seal the positive result, falling just short of Bristol Manor Farm in the table.
