JAMES Ward-Prowse makes it “super tough for every goalkeeper at the moment” declares manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, after the skipper’s heroic brace during the 2-2 draw at Brighton.

The 27-year-old topped his best goals total for a Premier League season as he netted twice to rescue Saints a point from behind at the Amex Stadium.

Ward-Prowse scored the 14th free-kick of his Premier League career just before the break to halve the deficit after Danny Welbeck’s early opener and Mohammed Salisu’s own goal.

The captain then struck from outside the area to restore parity shortly after the break, taking his total to a personal best nine for the campaign – ahead of a World Cup this winter.

“The first free-kick was amazing,” Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo, after the match. “It’s super tough for every goalkeeper at the moment - they don’t know what’s coming up.

“The second was fantastic play around the box from Ori and from him and we had good moments from outside the box where we could have scored.

"But in the end I think the draw was because of the two halves, absolutely okay. We had a better second half, they had a better first half.”

He continued: “The first one was more important because it changed the atmosphere at half-time in the dressing room for sure.

“We were still alive and maybe without this they can kill us earlier but it let us a stay alive and in the second half we showed a very good answer after having less time to recover.

“We definitely wanted to show a reaction and we did.”
