ST Mary's Stadium will play host to the Under-18s Premier League national final next week.

Saints qualified for the showpiece event, courtesy of topping the South table, winning 20 of their 26 matches.

That included a strong end to the campaign with six wins in succession, rounded off by beating Chelsea 5-2 on Saturday.

Carl Martin's side finished four points clear of nearest challengers West Ham United.

They will now face North winners Manchester City, who cruised to the title in their section.

Ben Wilkinson's youngsters finished 10 points clear of Liverpool, scoring 87 goals in their 26 matches, but did collect one fewer point than Saints throughout the campaign.

Reigning national champions City will head to the south coast on the back of five straight victories, including a final-day 6-0 win at Sunderland and a staggering 13-0 thumping of Newcastle United.

St Mary's has been chosen as the venue for the national final, with Saints fans now able to apply for free tickets.

The game will take place on Thursday, May 19, with kick-off set for 7pm.
