SAINTS captain James Ward-Prowse has the vote of teammate Romain Perraud for the Premier League Player of the Season award, the Frenchman joked!
The 27-year-old England international is named on an eight-man shortlist for the coveted award alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah and Heung-min Son.
Ward-Prowse is the only player not playing for a European-chasing side to be nominated for the award.
The Saints academy graduate has scored nine goals, including four direct free-kicks, and registered a further five assists so far in the Premier League this season.
“I think I will vote for him to win,” Perraud told the Daily Echo with a smile.
“Prowsey leads us through all the season to become a better team, I think it is a very great example for us, for everybody. We are lucky to have him here.”
