BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl admitted he could feel goalkeeper Alex McCarthy was “not really super comfortable” on the ball against Liverpool.

The shot-stopper was making his return to Saints’ starting XI for the first time since December, due to a hamstring problem.

McCarthy was powerless to prevent Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasers coming from behind to seal a 2-1 success, thanks to goals from Takumi Minamino and Joel Matip.

Assessing the keeper’s return, Hasenhuttl said: “You could feel that he was, especially with the ball, not really super comfortable.

“You could feel there was pressure in the home game against, maybe the best pressing team, who press when you play out from behind and cause you some braveness.

“But I demand this from my goalkeepers, they have to do this.”

McCarthy’s return coincided with an injury to stopper Fraser Forster.

“He didn't train last week and couldn't train to be ready for this game,” said Hasenhuttl, when asked about the former Celtic keeper.

Quizzed on whether Forster could feature against Leicester on Sunday, the boss replied: “We will take a look.”
